ATLANTA -- Russell Westbrook extended his streak of triple-doubles to six games, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 102-99 victory over the skidding Atlanta Hawks on Monday night.Westbrook scored 32 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and doled out 12 assists, giving him the NBAs longest streak of triple-doubles since Michael Jordan had seven in a row in 1989.Westbrooks run has sparked a six-game winning streak by the Thunder. Hes now reached double figures in all three categories in half of the Thunders 22 games.By contrast, Jordan had 15 triple-doubles for the entire 1988-89 season.Westbrook kept his streak alive with plenty of time to spare. Despite a poor start shooting, he already had 15 points and 11 rebounds when he picked up his 10th assist with 6:20 left in the third quarter.Scooping up a loose ball after a turnover by the Hawks, Westbrook led a 2-on-1 that ended with a pass to Victor Oladipo for a layup that gave the Thunder a 69-59 lead.Westbrook, who missed eight of his first nine shots, suddenly found his touch in the third quarter. He made five of his next seven shots, three of them beyond the arc, and finished with 16 points in the period as the Thunder stretched a one-point halftime lead to 83-69 heading to the fourth.Atlanta rallied down the stretch, but Westbrook closed it out for the Thunder. He finished with 27 second-half points to send the Hawks to their seventh straight loss and 10th defeat in the last 11 games. Its the longest losing streak for the Hawks since they dropped eight in a row in February 2014.Coach Mike Budenholzer decided to shake things up, sending Kyle Korver to the bench and putting Thabo Sefolosha in the starting lineup. The Hawks also were bolstered by the return of Paul Millsap, who had missed three straight games with a sore hip. He led five players in double figures with 24 points. It didnt matter. Westbrook made sure of that.Atlanta had a shot to send the game to overtime after Korver forced a jump ball. The Thunder clamped down defensively off the inbounds play, and Tim Hardaway Jr.s desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer failed to hit the rim.MONSTER JAMOladipo wasnt afraid to take on Dwight Howard in the lane.During the second quarter, the 6-foot-4 Thunder guard drove the baseline and slammed one over Atlantas 6-11 center, rocking the rim and drawing gasps from the crowd.Oladipo savored the moment, pumping his fists, stomping his feet and posing briefly in the lane even as the Hawks took off the other way.RECRUITING DWIGHTBilly Donovan made a recruiting pitch to Howard while coaching at Florida.During his pregame chat with the media, the Oklahoma City coach recounted a visit to Howard and his father at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy.Donovan quickly gave up any hope of getting Howard to attend college. All I had to do was watch one AAU game and then I stopped recruiting him immediately, he quipped.Howard, of course, went straight from high school to the NBA in the days before the rules required at least one year of college. He was the first overall pick of the Orlando Magic in 2004.UP NEXTThunder: Off until Friday, when they host the Houston Rockets.Hawks: Back in action Wednesday when the Miami Heat visit Philips Arena.---Follow Paul Newberry on Twitter at www.twitter.com/pnewberry1963 . FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Nick Mangold is getting closer to returning -- slowly but surely. The New York Jets center is questionable to play Sunday against the New England Patriots with a sprained right ankle that has sidelined him the last three games. Coach Todd Bowles announced Friday that no decision had been made on Mangolds status. Its been frustrating and disappointing, not being out there and not contributing, Mangold said. Ive been trying to do everything that I could behind the scenes to try to help out. Its tough. Having gone this long without playing a game isnt fun, so hopefully Ill get back as soon as I can.Mangold was limited for the second straight day, a sign that the ankle is improving. He ran a little Thursday during practice, marking the first time he did so since being hurt against Baltimore on Oct. 23.Mangold, in his 11th season, was asked if the opponent being the Patriots added any sense of urgency to him trying to get back on the field this week.Division opponent, this is the first time that I will have missed the game against them, he said. So, it would be difficult.Having been forced to sit out for an extended period has caused Mangold to consider his playing future. While its uncertain if hell remain with the Jets beyond this season -- hes a $9.075 million salary cap hit next year -- Mangold has no thoughts of retiring anytime soon.If anything, its made me want to play more so I can keep going, because Ive missed being out there, he said. Its probably going to make me linger on longer than my body will want me to. It gives you the thought that, hey, this game could be gone at any moment. So, youve got to enjoy the time that you get out there. He appeared on his way to getting back a few weeks ago, but said he overdid things in his rehabilitation and ended up back in a walking boot. Mangold is feeling better and got some good reps iin at practice on Friday.ddddddddddddIts been just a gradual process after having the setback that I did, he said. Just trying to get better each day, and its going in the right direction.Wesley Johnson has been solid while filling in for Mangold, who has been stuck on the sideline during games and trying to find a role even though he hasnt been playing. Mangold never missed more than two straight games before this injury. Its been weird, he said. It was tough, the last game (against Los Angeles on Nov. 13), because it was the first home game Ive ever missed. So, going through that whole process and coming into our locker room and being in our stadium, that was a different experience.Mangold has tried to stay out of the way while also being eyes for the coach, eyes for Johnson and those guys where he might see things from the sideline that could help. The games are crazy long when youre not playing in them, he said with a smile. Its definitely a different view. Ill have to look back somewhere down the road to see if Ive learned anything from it, but its definitely been a different experience trying to help out from the sideline and not on the field.Meanwhile, cornerbacks Nick Marshall and Marcus Williams were both ruled out against the Patriots with ankle injuries.Defensive tackle Steve McLendon is questionable with a hamstring issue that limited him at practice Thursday and Friday.Wide receiver Brandon Marshall (foot) and linebacker Bruce Carter (quadriceps) fully practiced after being limited. Carter has missed the last three games with the injury, and Friday marked the first time he was a full participant since he was hurt against the Ravens.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
