British bobsleigh and skeleton chiefs are awaiting the response of their sports international governing body before deciding whether to follow Latvias lead in withdrawing from next years World Championships in Sochi. The Latvian Skeleton Federation issued a strongly worded statement over the weekend in which it confirmed: We are not participation in the World Championships in Sochi, Russia -- a place where [the] Olympic spirit was stolen in 2014.The decision follows the publication of the second part of the report by Richard McLaren last week, which implicated over 1,000 Russian athletes in a state-sponsored doping programme, including many Winter Olympians. Both Olympic champion Lizzy Yarnold and the British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation have indicated a boycott of the event in February remains an option but they still hope the decision will be taken out of their hands by worrld governing body the IBSF.ddddddddddddBritain and Latvia have particular interest in the developments, with the British four-man bobsleigh crew finishing fifth behind two Russian teams at the 2014 Games, while Latvia took two silvers -- both behind Russian gold medallists -- in the four-man and the mens skeleton.British Bobsleigh performance director Gary Anderson told Press Association Sport: There is obviously a lot of dust to settle and once that has we need to urge the IOC and the IBSF to commence the appropriate action. It transpires we were not competing on a fair footing [at the Olympics], and that is wrong and needs rectifying. Clean athletes need to be protected here and we need to see the correct results from the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. ' ' '
